Fun at the park with Daddy

Sunday afternoon I had a bridal show to do (hair and makeup for the models) so Carter got to hang out all day with Daddy. The weather was really nice that day (comparatively speaking) so they got to go to the park. Actually they went to two different parks. I think Matt had a lot of fun getting to spend time with Carter outside of playing with him right before he has to be put to bed. You can tell by the pictures that Carter had tons of fun just getting to go to the park with Daddy. He fell asleep in the car ride home and didn't even wake up with me changing his diaper and putting him in his pj's! That's a sign of a worn out boy if I ever saw one!!

Since then, the weather turned cold again and after all the week-old snow and ice had just melted, we got another inch or more of the white stuff! So Carter is back to being a shut in with Cabin Fever. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to go to play group, at a mall-like area with big foamy fruit for the kids to climb all over, to get some energy out.

Well my baby bump is getting bigger and people are rubbing it (do they think it brings them luck or something?!?!?), but we are still practically 'square one' with the name game. We had all but decided on Caden, then discovered that it was #5 on 2007's top 10 boys names. Argh! I don't mind if the baby's name is somewhat popular or becomes popular, but I sure don't want to pick a name that force the kid to be called "___ B." or "_____ Borlase" all through school. I want him to at least have a chance of being on a first-name basis with friends and teachers!

So.... if you have any serious name suggestions, we would love to hear them.

Matt says if nothing else, he doesn't think the name 'Irf" is taken. (now you can see what I'm dealing with) ;)

Nap Time

Since we took the side rail off of Carter's crib to make it into a "big boy bed", he has been doing great at night as far as staying in bed. Nap time, however is a whole other story! Usually I try to put him in his bed when he starts to act grumpy and exibit other varrious signs of tiredness. But almost every time, with the exception of when we are running errands and he falls asleep on the way home, I hear him playing and go in to check on him and this is what I find (see picture above if you didn't figure it out by now) :). I wouldn't mind so much except that he isn't just playing with his toys, he gets ALL his toys and books out and throws them in the corner behind his crib, and occationally if we don't have the wipes out of his reach he will take all those out (one by one) and add those to the mound. !!! I hope once we move him to his new room and move most of his toys to the basement or onto shelves, that he will get borred sooner and actually fall asleep during nap time!

On a side note, this update took a little longer to type (I have to keep hitting 'backspace' and correcting typo's) on account of me trying to slice my thumb off last night while I was getting dinner ready. I had opened a can of soup, I was making a KRAFT recipe of easy chicken cordon bleu, and like a dummy, was messing with the lid and sliced right through my left thumb.
***For those of you who get squimish mearly reading gorey details, I would advise you to stop reading this paragraph.*** I probably should have gone to the hospital for stiches or glue or something, but Matthew wasn't home yet and Carter was asleep. So I did the next best thing...say some not-very-nice words and apply direct pressure with a very absorbent paper towel for about 20min. or so til the bleeding stoped. And cleaned the blood off of the counters and floors of my kitchen. Then proceed to finish dinner one-handed.

Long story a little shorter. Dinner was delisious, my finger still hurts like poop, should probably go get a tetnus shot but probably won't, and am planning on heating up left-overs for dinner tonight. :)

Aren't you glad you know?

Moral of my night: keep sharp objects away from finger tips even if I have never been cut by them before.

Toddler Town

The weather has been typical January weather around here, so we haven't had any opportunities to get outside and play. So needless to say, Carter has been getting cabin fever and the trip to the grocery store or Target or the mall (just to get out of the house) wasn't cutting it any more. Thankfully my friend Jill called yesterday and wanted to know if we wanted to go to Toddler Town with her and Jessica. I had never heard of it, and neither of them had ever been there before, but I figured it couldn't be all bad. Right?

I think that the kiddos really enjoyed it. It was in a big gym and they had all kinds of stuff for kids to do, like two outdoor plastic forts with slides, a ball pit (which happened to be Carter's favorite), play kitchens and houses, tricycles, big foam blocks and great kid stuff like that. By the end of the time Carter was having fun just jumping off the edge of the pit into the balls. Tobin and Ryder (Jessica and Jill's boys) liked to try everything out, even though Jessica said that Tobin has half of the same kinds of toys at home.

I had a nice time talking to friends and not doing their hair at the same time. Not that I ever mind doing friends hair, it was just a nice change of pace. :) All three of us are pregnant again, so we were all sharing how uncertain we were about the change and adjustment we would soon be facing, going from one to two kids. I am sure, like it was with the first one, that you just adjust and you just have to try not to stress out too much. But right now it's just hard to picture what it will be like.

The Dentist

So...I had a dentist appointment today and they love seeing us so much that they wanted us to come back so they could fill a cavity. Isn't that so nice! Actually I have just come to realize that, for me, cavities are just a by-product of being pregnant. I didn't have any cavities until after I had Carter. Good thing we aren't having 20 kids! :)

Basement Update: (if you don't care, you don't have to read it) The door to the bathroom was installed on Friday, and it looks awesome! Then yesterday we primed the walls and put the first coat of paint on. I think it is going to be way cooler than our upstairs. By the way, I'm not going to post pictures until it's done so you can get the full effect. :)

Presents from Grandma Kathy

Grandma Kathy, or "kathy" as Carter likes to call her, brought some Christmas presents that Carter would enjoy on our long drive to Colorado. He loved listening to the silly songs CD on grandma's laptop. It is so much more fun this year to watch him open gifts, since he actually knows what is going on. :) Matt took the camera with him to work today I guess, so I was trying to find pictures that I had already downloaded but hadn't posted yet. I do know that you guys are probably sick of seeing Colorado pictures, so this was the next best thing. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to post pictures of our new door on the down stairs bathroom (exciting, I know) since the guy is supposed to be coming this afternoon to put it in. I am so excited!!! Now all my hair clients won't have to walk all the way upstairs!

Ok, going to give Carter a bath now.
