Scrap Day

This is just a picture of Carter being silly. I thought people might be disappointed if there wasn't a picture of him on this post. ;)

So Wednesdays are Carter's outlet to see other kids, and Thursdays are my days to see other 'kids'. We have gotten together to 'scrap' and are making it a weekly thing. Sometimes we don't get a lot of work done, but it's still more that I would have done if we weren't getting together. :) I am still 1yr + behind on all my pictures so any little bit helps!

Play Group

Today we went to play group for the second week in a row. We had gotten out of the habit of going, mostly because I would forget and schedule hair cuts at the same time. Carter loves seeing everyone there and getting to play with kids his own age. It is so funny to watch them play and see how different the boys are than the girls. We had to break up a couple of fights between the boys already, but the girls were content to play nicely with each other and walk around socializing with everybody else (which mostly consists of saying "hi!" like a billion times to everyone). Carter did like playing with the dolls though. He mostly liked giving them kisses and hugs.

Weekend with Grandma Kathy

This weekend Matt's mom Kathy got to come up to visit us. We have been having a great time. Saturday us girls got to go jewelry shopping (we all know that is so much more fun when you are with someone else!), then Matt and Kathy went on a quest to find a new bike for Kathy. Since Matt is an expert on bikes is was a fairly easy quest. They found a very cute bike that she loved, and it even matched her outfit. ;)

Then we all got to go for a bike ride at the park so she could test it out. The weather was so beautiful! There were some leaves that had fallen already, and as we rode over them, they made that wonderful crunching sound and released thier wonderful 'it's almost fall' aroma. I'm sooooo ready for fall!

Then when I needed a brake from riding (apparently I am the only one of the three of us that never rides a bike. pretty sad for only 25) we were able to stop near a play ground so Carter could also get out and stretch his legs. He had fun going down the slide with G.ma and dad.

At the end of the ride, as Matt was being the great guy that he is and loading up all the bikes and gear, Kathy and Carter went for a walk. They didn't know I took this, but it looked so picturesque. Too bad my zoom isn't any better! I could only imagine the 'stories' Carter was trying to tell her about as they looked out at the lake.

Horsing around (minus the horse)

Daddy decided to play rodeo using mom as the horse as she was trying to relax on the bed. Fortunately Carter just enjoyed seeing himself wearing a silly hat in the mirror. Ha Ha... dad's plans to be silly interrupting moms rest, thwarted again! :)

Carter's 1st boo-boo

Well I feel blessed that we have made it 18 months without having to break out the band aids or even a trip to the ER. We were going up the driveway to get the mail, and Carter tripped on his own feet (which is not an uncommon occurrence) and before I could catch him, he scraped his knee. So we went inside, with only minimal crying, and poured hydrogen peroxide over it and then picked out the only colourful band aid we had. He thought it was a sticker and kept wanting to put in on his shirt. :) So I guess I will have to get some kid band aids next time. (could be worse)

Play Dates

We got to visit our friends Ben & Erin this week to meet their new baby Ryan. (who by now is almost 9 weeks old. Better late than never!) Carter enjoyed playing with Ryan's older sister Samantha, and I think she enjoyed telling him what to do. :) Samantha is 4 going on 18. She acts very grown up. She would tell me "thank you so much" when she was opening up her present. But the funny part was that she would use the voice inflections and hand movements just like her mom would. She is so adorable!

This is Carter's cousin Jeffery (Breanna's sister, Cassie's son). He came over to play this week while I helped Cassie & Eric install his new car seat. He is almost 30 pounds now which is almost 10 more than Carter. So needless to say, he was in need of a toddler car seat. They had fun playing with the soup cans as you can see. They make much cooler sounds than regular ole toys that you can just by at the store!

Chiefs Sunday

On Sunday we went over to our friends Shane and Melissa's house to watch the Chiefs game. Or should I say watch the Chiefs make a fool out of themselves? Shane made chili for us all, which kinda fit the weather (it seems like overnight the season changed to fall. do you think God did that for opening game? j/k). Carter enjoyed practicing his football skills, and we enjoyed watching him. He looked so grown up in his Trent Green jersey! He also enjoyed giving baby Sofia hugs and kisses. I think he did it just to make Shane mad (can we say over-protective father?). The funniest part about it was that after Carter would give her a kiss, she would grin from ear to ear! (sorry Shane)

busy weekend

This has been a weekend of birthdays and get-togethers.
My littlest sister (Jillissa) and her boyfriend (Seth) came over for dinner on Friday night. I was shocked that they would want to hang out with us 'old married people'. Then I figured out that they were really just needing a Carter 'fix'. Just kidding. We had a great dinner and then went down stairs to watch a movie. Apparently, Seth has a mind like a steel trap because he remembered every line in "Coming to America", all the while insisting he has only seen it once or twice. :) (sounds a lot like a certain sister-in -law.....) ;)

Saturday was filled with two special 'milestone' birthdays. Earlier in the day we helped one of Carter's friends, Ryder, celebrate his 1st birthday. He had his birthday at a local park and the weather couldn't have been better. Carter wore him self out playing catch with his friend Tobin (who is Ryder's cousin) and was asleep by the time we pulled out of the parking lot.
My good friend Jessica had a very nice surprise 25th birthday thrown by her sweet husband Jeff (good job jeff). She was surprised and she even had a friend drive all the way down from the Chicago area. That is just a small indication of what a good friend Jessica is to people, when they are willing to drive all that way just for her party!

So Happy birthday Jessica and Ryder. Hope your day was fantastic!

Carter's new 'Puppy'

yeah!!! Our camera is finally back! So now I can show you what goes on at our house. :)

Carter has a new 'puppy' that is bigger than him (so now that makes 2, with wolf). We haven't named him yet. He is so soft and as you can see, Carter loves to cuddle with him. Carter also likes to cuddle with wolf, but wolf doesn't sit still as long and isn't quite as cushy.
